TIIM PIANO SYLLABUS

Piano Beginner Curriculum (16 Weeks)

Level: Complete Beginner

Target Age Group: Teenagers to Adults

Format: Weekly lessons + daily practice (30–45 mins recommended)

Outcome: Students will be able to play simple songs with both hands, understand basic music theory, read notation, and perform with rhythm and expression.

Week 1

Introduction to the Piano

● Parts of the piano, posture, hand shape

● Finger numbers, Middle C position

● High vs Low notes

● Songs: Simple 3-note melodies using fingers 1-2-3 (e.g. “Hot Cross Buns”)

● Theory: Musical alphabet (A to G)

● Ear Training: High vs Low sound, simple 2-note matching

● Activity: Name the white keys on the piano

Week 2

Basic Rhythms & Right Hand Melodies

● Quarter, half, whole notes

● Right hand: C-D-E-F-G exercises

● Songs: “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” “Ode to Joy” (right hand only)

● Theory: Introduction to rhythm notation

● Ear Training: Clap back rhythms

Week 3

Left Hand Introduction

● Left hand C-B-A-G-F pattern

● Playing single-note melodies or root notes

● Songs: “Twinkle Twinkle” (single LH notes + RH melody)

● Theory: Treble and bass clefs, staff intro

● Creative Task: Create a 4-bar melody (RH only)

Week 4

Both Hands Coordination

● C position for both hands

● Simple pieces playing hands together

● Songs: “Jingle Bells,” “Are You Sleeping”

● Theory: Note values recap + dotted half note

● Activity: Draw notes on staff
